About Us

The School of Public Policy and Administration of Nanchang University was integrated from the former School of Public Administration and the School of Management in January 2022. The School consists of 5 departments, namely, the Department of Management Science and Engineering, the Department of Information Management, the Department of Public Administration, the Department of Sociology and the Department of Psychology, as well as 2 centers: MPA Education Center and MSW Education Center.

The School has one doctoral program in the first-level discipline and one post-doctoral research station (Management Science and Engineering), 5 master’s programs in the first-level discipline (Management Science and Engineering, Information Resource Management, Public Administration, Political Science and Psychology) and 4 professional master’s programs (Engineering Management, Library and Information, Public Administration and Social Work).

Disciplinary platforms include: Jiangxi Research Center for Party Conduct and Clean Government Construction (Nanchang University Clean Government Research Center), Jiangxi Regional Economic Research Institute, Jiangxi Soft Science Research Base, Nanchang University China Rural Revitalization Research Institute, Nanchang University Office Affairs Management Research Center, Development and Education Psychology Research Institute, System Engineering Research Institute, Resource Science and Management Research Institute and other university level research institutions. The discipline of Management Science and Engineering is a key discipline of Jiangxi Province in the “Tenth Five Year Plan”, “Eleventh Five Year Plan” and “Twelfth Five Year Plan”.

Currently, the School has 8 undergraduate programs, including Management Science, Information Management and Information System, E-Commerce, Public Relations, Sociology, Human Resource Management, Administrative Management and Applied Psychology, among which Management Science, E-Commerce and Administrative Management are the national first-class undergraduate programs. Information Management and Information System and Administrative Management are the brand programs in Jiangxi Province, and Administrative Management program was also rated as a featured program in Jiangxi Province (2010) and a first-class program in Jiangxi Province (2018). E-Commerce was also rated as a first-class program in Jiangxi Province in 2018. In the program evaluation of Jiangxi Province, Administrative Management, Applied Psychology, E-Commerce and Public Relations ranked first. In 2020, Human Resource Management and Applied Psychology were listed in the provincial first-class undergraduate programs. Relying on platforms such as post-doctoral research station, first-level disciplines for doctoral and master’s programs, and professional master’s programs, the School has formed a talent training model of “integration of teaching, scientific research, and social services” with mutual promotion of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. The discipline construction and scientific research level are in the leading position in the province and the top position in China.

The School has a sound and complete faculty structure, with young and middle-aged scholars and doctors as the main body. The School currently has 155 faculty members, including 122 full-time teachers. Among the full-time teachers, there are 34 professors (including 3 distinguished professors) and 50 associate professors, of whom 13 are doctoral supervisors and over 70 are master’s supervisors. Among the teachers, 87 have doctor’s degrees, accounting for 74%. In addition, it has 37 guest and part-time professors.

The School has 3,216 students, including 1,818 undergraduates, 1,331 postgraduates and 67 doctoral candidates (including students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, China).

The School of Public Policy and Administration is adhering to the goal of “making famous teachers, cultivating talents, and creating first-class school” and the concept of “morality first, people-oriented, and learning first”, implementing the working policy of “strengthening disciplines, improving management, and benefiting the people’s livelihood”, and striving to build a research-and-teaching oriented school which is of distinctive features, excellent performance and social influence.
