School of Public Policy and Administration, Nanchang University

Established in January 2022 through the integration of the former School of Public Administration and the School of Management, the School of Public Policy and Administration at Nanchang University comprises five departments: Management Science and Engineering, Information Management, Public Administration, Sociology, and Psychology. It also houses two dedicated education centers: the MPA Education Center and the MSW Education Center.

The School boasts a robust academic framework, including two first-level doctoral degree authorization points in Management Science and Engineering and Public Administration, and one postdoctoral research station in Management Science and Engineering. It offers five first-level master's degree authorization points in Management Science and Engineering, Information Resources Management, Public Administration, Political Science, and Psychology, along with five professional master's degree programs in Engineering Management, Library and Information Science, Public Administration (MPA), Social Work (MSW), and Applied Psychology.

Supported by numerous research platforms, the School hosts several provincial and university-level institutes, such as the National Digital Literacy and Skills Training Base (Nanchang University), the Jiangxi Research Base for Science & Technology Policy and Regulation Innovation, the Research Center for Urban-Rural Governance and Common Prosperity, the Digital Literacy and Skills Enhancement Research Center, the Jiangxi Soft Science Research Base for Technological Innovation and Mid-China Regional Economic & Social Development, the Jiangxi Regional Economic Research Institute, the Nanchang University Center for Clean Governance Research, the China Rural Revitalization Research Institute (Nanchang University Third-Party Evaluation Center), the Nanchang University Government Affairs Management Research Center, the Systems Engineering Institute, the Resource Science and Management Institute, and the Nanchang University Big Data and Cybersecurity Research Institute. The discipline of Management Science and Engineering has been consecutively recognized as a key provincial discipline during the 10th, 11th, and 12th Five-Year Plan periods.

The School offers eight undergraduate programs: Management Science, Information Management and Information Systems, E-commerce, Sociology, Public Relations, Human Resource Management, Public Administration, and Applied Psychology. Among these, Management Science, E-commerce, Public Administration, and Information Management and Information Systems are designated as National First-Class Undergraduate Program Construction Sites. Information Management and Information Systems and Public Administration are recognized as Brand Majors in Jiangxi Province, with Public Administration also honored as a Provincial Characteristic Major (2010) and a Provincial First-Class Advantageous Major (2018). E-commerce is likewise a Provincial First-Class Advantageous Major (2018). In provincial major assessments, Public Administration, Applied Psychology, E-commerce, Management Science, and Public Relations have all ranked first. Human Resource Management and Applied Psychology were included in the Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Program Construction List in 2020. Furthermore, Public Administration, E-commerce, and Applied Psychology have been awarded the title of Jiangxi Province Five-Star Undergraduate Majors.

Leveraging its postdoctoral station, doctoral, master's, and professional master's programs, the School has established an integrated talent cultivation model that promotes synergy among undergraduate, master's, and doctoral education, combining teaching, research, and social service. Its discipline development and research standards are leading within the province and hold a notable position nationally.

The School possesses a well-structured and complete faculty, primarily composed of mid-career and young scholars and doctoral degree holders. It currently has 169 staff members, including 129 full-time faculty. Among the full-time faculty, there are 35 professors, 2 specially appointed professors, and 51 associate professors; 18 doctoral supervisors and 99 master's supervisors. Ninety-nine faculty members hold doctoral degrees, accounting for 76.7% of the teaching staff.

The current student enrollment stands at 3,425, including 1,760 undergraduates, 1,601 postgraduates, and 64 doctoral candidates (including students from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and international students).
