The 1st "Gong Yun Yan Zhang" Sports Culture Festival and the 5th "Gong Qi Cup" Faculty-Student Friendship Basketball Game of the School of Public Policy and Administration Came to a Successful Conclusion

In the early summer, all things thrive in splendid vitality. To earnestly advance the educational philosophy of "Health First", the 1st "Gong Yun Yan Zhang" Sports Culture Festival and the 5th "Gong Qi Cup" Faculty-Student Friendship Basketball Match of the School of Public Policy and Management, Nanchang University, were successfully held at Tianjian Basketball Court on the Qianhu Campus on May 29, 2026.This event was designed to build a platform for interaction and communication between faculty and students, enrich campus cultural and sports activities, and demonstrate the vigorous and uplifting mental outlook of teachers and students in our school. Bo Qiushi, Chair of the Department of Management Science and Engineering, Associate Professor Huang Jiapeng from the Department of Sociology, Associate Professor Qian Quan from the Department of Public Administration, Yu Qiong, Director of the Student Affairs Office, Counselor Huang Hao, together with postgraduate students of all grades, gathered at the court to embrace this sports gala brimming with youthful vitality and the spirit of hard work.

At the opening of the event, Bo Qiushi delivered the opening address first. He stated that the Sports Culture Festival serves as a vital carrier for the school to implement the policy of "Five Educations Simultaneously" and deepen physical education for talent cultivation, as well as a vivid platform to boost communication between teachers and students and foster collective identity. He expressed his hope that all students would compete with grace and excellence on the court, strengthen their bodies and temper their willpower through tenacious striving, and gain friendship and personal growth amid teamwork.

Subsequently, Guo Jiahao, athlete representative, stepped onto the stage and took a solemn oath. He pledged to abide by competition rules, respect rivals and strive tenaciously, showcasing the fine demeanor of students from the School of Public Policy and Management with high morale. His resonant oath ignited the enthusiasm of all present and laid a solid foundation for standardized and orderly competition.

With the blast of the referee’s whistle, the basketball game officially kicked off. On the court, players from both sides quickly got into their rhythm with fast-paced offensive and defensive transitions. Spectacular moves including breakthroughs, passing and cutting, coordinated defense and rebound contests unfolded one after another. Cheers and shouts from the audience on the sidelines rose one after another, pushing the atmosphere of the game to new heights time and again. Teachers and students competed side by side and strived together, fully embodying the spirit of solidarity, collaboration and dauntless fighting.

To enrich the competition experience and enliven the interactive atmosphere, fun interactive challenges including the Three-Point Sharpshooter Contest and Lucky Bowling Challenge were arranged during halftime. Participants signed up enthusiastically and took turns to compete, testing their shooting sense and skills in a relaxed and lively vibe. Constant applause and cheers echoed throughout the venue, which not only added fun to the intense matches, but also allowed more students to feel the vitality and warmth of the Sports Culture Festival through on-site participation.

During the award ceremony, Yu Qiong presented trophies and prizes symbolizing honor to the winning players and took group photos with all participating team members as a souvenir.

Teachers and students from the School of Public Administration gathered together, and on the sports field, they worked hand in hand to pursue their dreams. The successful holding of this event was not only a wonderful competition of physical strength and skills, but also a vivid practice of consolidating the cohesion of the college and deepening the friendship between teachers and students.
